Could we have possibly found the best VPN on the market today? Well, X-VPN puts a lot on the table like 256-bit encryption, a no logging policy, and eight different protocols. The service also boasts over 5000 servers worldwide.
So far, it seems like we may have found an industry leading VPN service. Let’s see if this VPN lives up to all the hype.
What Stands Out About X-VPN
The first thing that stands out about X-VPN is its price. It has a plan that allows you to utilize the mobile app, free of charge. If you decide to use the desktop client, you’ll get 500MB of free data before you need to upgrade.
Something else impressive about this VPN is its 5000+ servers across 50 different locations. An abundance of servers usually means fast connection speeds and many options based near your location.
How Much Does X-VPN Cost?
If you decide that the free choice is not enough, you could opt for X-VPN’s premium plan. It’s not the cheapest we’ve ever seen, but, X-VPN offers enough features to make it worth a small price. With the premium plan, you get access to the following benefits:
- Eight different protocols
- AES 256-bit encryption
- 24/6 live chat
- Accessibility using Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Linux, Chrome, Router, and Amazon TV
- No adverts
- 7-day refund window
Here is a breakdown of X-VPN’s pricing:
- One month – $11.99 per month
- One year – $5.99 per month / $71.86 billed yearly
What We Like About X-VPN
.This service offers many different features, but we want to know more about the security and privacy measures it takes. Safety and security are the two most important factors to keep in mind when shopping for a VPN. Here are some of the best benefits of this VPN.
Dedicated Netflix Servers
Something we have never seen before is a dedicated Netflix account for a VPN. With X-VPN, you can create an individual account that allows you to unblock Netflix and Hulu regardless of your location.
There is an upsell on this of $1.99 per month or $19.98 per year.
To be honest this is kind of ridiculous, you need to pay extra to unblock netflix when many VPN’s do it anyway.
Free Option
We always think offering a variety of choices is the best way to go. We like VPNs that offer their consumers a free package so they can try it out. With the free app for Android and iOS, you get almost all the benefits of the paid version. The problem we had was finding enough information to support that claim.
On its website, there is not a ton of information readily available. What we do know is that you get unlimited data and devices using the mobile app and 500MB of data using the desktop client.
No Leaking
During our research for VPN reviews, we always check to make sure that there are no issues with DNS leaking. When your DNS leaks, it exposes your IP address and leaves you out in the open for whoever wants to find your information.
We searched around for tests done on X-VPN and found that there were no issues with DNS leaks across many different tests.
High Speed
When it comes to free VPNs, we are used to slow speeds; we expect that. We were pleasantly surprised to see X-VPN pumping out download speeds of 55 Mbps and up to 75 Mbps.
What We Dislike About X-VPN
Unfortunately, we have to get to the downsides of this VPN. While X-VPN has a lot to offer, there are also some issues with this service.
Confusing Logging Policy
Most VPN services say that they have a no logging policy, but in many cases, it turns out to be misleading. That is the case with X-VPN. On its homepage, X-VPN states that it does not collect information, but, when you read its privacy policy things become somewhat confusing.
It says that it does not keep logs, but it shares information if a court orders it to do so. The policy further reads on to say X-VPN store a connection timestamp, the protocol choice, and network type of each user. This information gets deleted after 96 hours. It’s not too much of a big deal, but it’s confusing.
Don’t settle for confusing policies. Read our best VPN list for a selection of VPN services that do not keep logs.
Chinese Jurisdiction
China has tough laws when it comes to privacy, and the government could quickly force X-VPN to hand over any data with no questions asked. Luckily, X-VPN shouldn’t have too much information about you in the first place if its privacy policy is correct. But we wouldn’t rely on it to be.
Our Verdict
What do we think of X-VPN? We think of it as a very average VPN in a sea full of great VPN’s, why would you bother choosing it? If you need a reliable VPN to fill any function, then look elsewhere. We have listed the best VPN’s for torrenting, gaming, iphone, android and much more. Take your pick, there are many much better ones out there and they are cheaper too.
