Ripple announced promoting David Schwartz to chief technology officer (CTO) and hiring Kahina Van Dyke as senior vice president for business and corporate development. The company strengthened its leadership team as it continues to expand across several verticals including blockchain, payments, financial services, and cryptography.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse stated that:
“David and Kahina exemplify success. At every step in their careers, they have shown the type of leadership qualities and business prowess that will be instrumental as Ripple continues to grow. ….. David is a world-renowned leader in the blockchain and digital asset world, and Kahina is a seasoned veteran in the traditional banking and financial services industries.”
Improving Reach
The company also made Schwartz responsible for technical strategy and development along with focusing on extending the reach. He will also work towards increasing transaction volume on RippleNet with the help of its product suite, especially xVia and xCurrent. Aside from these, he will be providing support to the recent pilot program for xRapid.
Ripple thinks that this would help transform the financial institutions quickly into a complete production house. His team is also entrusted with the responsibility of decentralizing XRP ledger further as it is an ongoing process. It was started since the inception and remains a key focus area for the XRP community. Schwartz will replace Stefan Thomas as he left to start Coil.
Not an Easy Task
Reacting to the appointment, Schwartz said that the task of building a blockchain-based solution for global financial institutions is a challenging one. However, he noted that they have the required technical resources at Ripple to make it a reality. As a CTO, he will be closely working with world-class engineers, scientists, and business executives.
Similarly, Kahina Van Dyke thinks that Ripple is a compelling option to transform the movement of money around the globe. Therefore, she felt that the industry is going through an exciting time and expressed happiness. She will be playing a crucial role in developing next-generation payments.
