In a much-wanted announcement from its user base, Skrill stated that it had added support for Ripple’s native coin XRP on its platform. It will become the fifth coin after Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and Litecoin to be added on the platform, many cryptocurrencies from the top 5 by market cap.

The platform wrote on Twitter:

While doing so, the platform added screenshots of a few people from the crypto community asking for XRP support on the platform. This new addition will help the users buy the cryptocurrency in their supported local fiat currency.
XRP’s addition to the platform marks yet another landmark for Ripple. The currency toppled Ethereum to become the second largest crypto in the world and is consistently charging ahead with several partnerships and new developments in cross-border payments and remittance support.
Skrill’s Journey With Cryptocurrencies
The platform first entered the cryptocurrency market in July this year, joining Neteller to allow crypto coin trading. It hasn’t announced an exchange platform yet but allows trading for users. Highlighting the opportunities in this sector, Skrill CEO Lorenzo Pellegrino said earlier:
“The world of cryptocurrency trading is exciting and dynamic, and our digital wallet service very much lends itself to this environment.”
Mr. Pellegrino is confident of platform’s ability to provide quick and easy crypto services to the consumers. Skrill charges anywhere from 1.5% to 3% for converting a users balance into cryptocurrencies, offering them a fiat to crypto exchange service for over 40 fiat currencies. It also claims to provide over 100 methods to deposit money into a users’ accounts, therefore, enabling a hassle-free way to trade in digital coins.
